01 — The fabric standard
GSM IS NOT A MARKETING NUMBER.
It is the single most reliable indicator of whether a garment will last. 200 GSM is the floor for any piece in this range. Training wear sold at major retailers typically runs 150 to 170 GSM. At that weight, the fabric pills, loses its shape, and fades inside a year of regular use.
Every piece at Vantage Athletics starts with the weight spec. If the fabric does not meet it, the product does not exist.
02 — The construction standard
HOW IT IS MADE DETERMINES HOW LONG IT LASTS.
On grappling kit: flatlock stitching throughout. Seams lie flat against the skin rather than sitting proud. No chafing during rolling, no seam failure under repeated stress. Polyester-spandex blend at 220 GSM moves with the body and recovers its shape between sessions.
On training and lifestyle pieces: reinforced stress points, ribbed cuffs that hold their structure, and waistbands that do not roll. Details that matter after 100 washes, not just the first time you wear it.
03 — The pricing standard
COST PER WEAR IS THE ONLY NUMBER WORTH CALCULATING.
A piece at £35 that lasts five years of regular training costs £7 per year. A £15 alternative that fails in twelve months costs £15 per year and leaves you with worn-out kit.
Vantage Athletics is priced to reflect what quality fabric actually costs to produce. No inflated margins to fund advertising. No £80 premium for a logo on a £12 garment. The price reflects the product.
04 — The production standard

Every piece is made when you buy it. That means no deadstock sitting in a warehouse, no end-of-season discounts to move unwanted inventory, and no production decisions made on guesswork.
It also means a 3 to 5 working day lead time. Not a compromise — a direct consequence of making things properly.
THE FIVE-YEAR STANDARD
Every piece in the range is built to five years of regular training use. That is the standard it is designed and sourced to. If something falls short of that, contact us and we will make it right.
